Jason Troy Voeller, 47, has been charged with Class A misdemeanor animal neglect for allegedly leaving his dog alone in a trailer in Holiday Park without access to food or water for over a month.

Voeller is scheduled to make an initial appearance on the charge on Jan. 19 in district court in Minot.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Voeller called the Souris Valley Animal Shelter and admitted to leaving the dog unattended for up to 40 days. Officers went to the trailer and captured the dog, which was underweight and dehydrated. The dog was taken to a veterinary clinic for treatment. The trailer was described as covered in dog feces and urine and no food or water was accessible to the dog.
