Souris Valley United Way seeks donations

The Souris Valley United Way is seeking donations, according to information provided by the organization.

With two months remaining, the organization was at 36 percent of its annual fundraising goal of $625,000.

United Way helps fund more than 20 local programs that help children, senior citizens, families and individuals with basic needs. The needs in the area are greater due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. According to the information provided, one example of a person they help is a man who had stopped in the office. The man had moved to the area to work in the oil business but lost his job. He found another job that paid less than half of what he had been making. His rent, utilities, medical costs and daily living expenses took up all his paycheck and more. United Way directed him to other programs that might be able to help with those issues, but those programs are also almost out of resources to help people like the man.

Donations can be made at svunitedway.com or by sending a check or cash to United Way.
