New city manager, Harold Stewart, arrives in Minot

Stewart arrives to assume new duties

Jill Schramm/MDN Minot City Manager Harold Stewart, left, listens to Ward County Commissioner John Pietsch as the two converse during a meet-and-greet for the new city manager in Minot City Hall Wednesday.

Minot’s new city manager spent his first few days on the job in getting acquainted with city government and its ongoing projects.

Harold Stewart took over management duties Monday, settling into his office and meeting with city staff. A meet-and-greet was held Wednesday morning that included council members. He planned to continue meeting with department heads, touring city departments, meeting one-on-one with council members and meeting with regional partners and community members

“I did a tour with the Public Works director and city engineer as we try to get ready for the legislative session, making sure I had eyes on what the projects are and the impacts,” Stewart said.

Stewart comes to Minot from Warrensburg, Missouri, where he had served as city manager since 2015. His current contract with Minot is for three years.

His oldest son came with him to seek employment, and his wife, Andrea, and four school-aged children will be arriving later.

“They are excited,” he said. “My family is all in and we are excited to be up here.”

Stewart had spent part of his youth in Minot when his father was stationed at Minot Air Force Base.
