Weather radar servicing the Minot area is fully operational following the installation of upgraded equipment. The radar was out of service beginning Nov. 13, primarily for the installation of a new generator, new fuel tanks and accompanying components. The upgrade is part of a national Service Life Extension Program for 159 radars across the United States. Located north of Granville, the radar serves the National Weather Service, U.S. Air Force and the Federal Aviation Administration. Further improvements, a refurbishment of the radar’s pedestal and adjacent shelter, are scheduled for 2023.
