Shon Taylor charged with burglary, damaging patrol car camera

Shon Daniel Taylor, 44, is charged in district court in Minot with burglarizing a residence, a Class C felony, on Oct. 21 and of damaging a camera in a patrol car on Tuesday when he was arrested on the burglary charge, a Class A misdemeanor criminal mischief charge.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed in the court in the criminal mischief case, authorities had handcuffed Taylor and placed him in the back of a Ward County Sheriff’s Department patrol vehicle while they searched Taylor’s car. A woman was outside the patrol car and Taylor, in the patrol car, was demanding to be allowed to speak with the woman. Taylor started striking the interior of the patrol vehicle and damaged the camera mounting bracket of the transport portion of the patrol vehicle and tore the cable out of the camera and disabled the recording system in the patrol vehicle. The woman told Taylor that a residence was about to be searched in reference to the burglary and Taylor allegedly told her to “go to the house” and “you’ll figure it out.”

Taylor was scheduled to make an initial appearance on the charges on Wednesday before Judge Todd Cresap.
