Andre Moreno, Minot, sentenced to 15 days for domestic violence

Andre Thomas Moreno, 39, Minot, who had originally been charged with a Class C felony and had been accused of strangling a woman during a domestic altercation on Sept.23, 2019, pleaded guilty on Oct. 21 to a reduced charge of Class B misdemeanor domestic violence causing bodily injury.

The woman had taken pictures of bruising on her face, neck, chest, arm, and upper back and showed them to police when she filed a report five days after the incident, on Sept. 28, 2019.

North Central District Court Judge Doug Mattson sentenced Moreno to 30 days in jail, with a requirement that he serve 15 days, and 360 days of probation. Moreno will receive credit for three days already served in jail. He must report to the Ward County Jail on Nov. 6 to serve the remainder of his sentence.

Judge Mattson also ordered Moreno to stay away from the victim, to complete a domestic violence offenders course, to pay restitution yet to be determined and $250 in fines and fees.
