2nd Story selling tickets for cash calendar fundraiser

Submitted Photo The 2nd Story in Minot is a social club for people with disabilities.

The 2nd Story will be holding a “cash calendar fundraiser” to raise money for the downtown Minot social club for adults with disabilities, said assistant director Katrina Leintz.

Tickets are currently being sold for $30. The final day to purchase a ticket will be Nov. 30, said Leintz. She said there will be one raffle drawing each day during December, streamed live on the 2nd Story’s Facebook page at 7 p.m., and the daily winner will have the opportunity to win between $70 and $225. Each ticket will have the opportunity to win twice. Leintz said 400 tickets are available for sale. Tickets are for sale at the club at 13 1st Avenue SW. People can also call 838-0912 for more information.

Leintz said the 2nd Story had to cancel its spring fundraiser due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and this will hopefully be a way to raise funds.

Proceeds will be used to purchase cleaning supplies, install automated paper towel dispensers, and UV lights for cleaning and other expenses at the club.

People with disabilities enjoy the club for the activities that are offered and the chance to meet other people and maintain friendships and valuable connections.

Even during the pandemic, the 2nd Story has tried to find ways for people to socialize, with events such as virtual bingo.

Leintz said the 2nd Story has about 350 active members and, before the pandemic, up to 40 to 50 people visited the club each day.
