Samuel Kendrick, Minot, found guilty of beating pregnant woman

Samuel Robert Kendrick, 31, Minot, was found guilty on Wednesday of punching a pregnant woman several times in the left ear, in the back of the head and in the arm during a domestic violence altercation on Feb. 17.

Sentencing on the Class C felony domestic violence causing serious bodily injury charge is scheduled for Sept. 18 before North Central District Court Judge Doug Mattson. Kendrick went to trial on the charge on Tuesday.

According to court documents, Kendrick had been playing video games and became angry when the woman, who was 6 1/2 months pregnant at the time, took away the remote control. Kendrick and the woman had been arguing over finances. The woman lost consciousness during the assault for a few seconds. One of her children was next to her when she regained consciousness. She found her phone and called the police. Kendrick, who had a warrant out for his arrest in another case, fled the apartment. The woman went to the hospital for treatment. Kendrick was later located and placed under arrest.
