Parenting program to return with online sessions

Trinity Behavioral Health Services is accepting registrations for the fall round of its Nurturing Parenting Program, according to information provided by Trinity.

Coordinator Kayla Durand, MSW/LMSW, says classes will be online only due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “We are moving to an online platform for the Fall 2020 session but hope to be back in person for the Spring 2021 session,” she said.

Nurturing Parenting is a free program open to families with children ages 0-19 years. Families learn to identify and handle feelings, improve communication, control stress and anger, develop effective discipline techniques, and promote warm interaction and family fun. “It’s an opportunity for family engagement and for parents to interact with other parents who may face similar challenges,” Durand said.

The fall classes are scheduled Tuesday evenings, Sept. 8 to Dec. 22, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and will be available via Zoom Web Conferencing. To register or for more information, call Durand at 857-3622. Information and a downloadable brochure is available at www.ndnurturing.org.

Nurturing Parenting is funded by the North Dakota Department of Human Services in partnership with the NDSU Extension Service and North Dakota Parent Education Network. A spring program is scheduled to begin in January 2021.
