Louis Burgess charged with terrorizing sister

Louis Wayne Burgess, 20, Minot, is accused of threatening his sister with a knife in the Walmart parking lot in Minot on Wednesday evening.

Burgess is charged in district court in Minot with Class C felony terrorizing.

The woman said she was at Walmart with Burgess’s ex-girlfriend. Burgess confronted his sister and told her she needed to get off drugs. She told police that neither she nor Burgess’s ex-girlfriend were in possession of drugs. She said her brother has a past history of methamphetamine use and has spent time in a drug rehab and has become increasingly paranoid this week. The sister told police that Burgess brandished a 5- or 6-inch blade, pointed upwards, and was standing close to her. The ex-girlfriend told police she jumped out of the pickup when she saw the confrontation and witnessed the incident. Burgess allegedly said he would kill his sister and her boyfriend.

Burgess was later located at his residence and placed under arrest. He said he took out the knife to show his sister but denied that he intended to scare her.

Starting at $2.99/week.
