Tyve Bulliner, 22, Minot Air Force Base, drowned Saturday at Nelson-Carlson lakes south of Minot.

According to the Ward County Sheriff’s Department, Bulliner and another person had been on a kayak when it capsized. Wind at the time was gusting in excess of 20 miles per hour. Bulliner’s companion was safely brought to shore by bystanders.

The Ward County Sheriff’s Department, Ward County Dive Team, Max/Garrison Ambulance and Burlington Fire Department Dive Team responded to the call about 2:20 p.m. Saturday. Bulliner was located by divers and pronounced dead. Neither occupant of the kayak is believed to have been wearing a life jacket.
