Zoo to celebrate extended Mother’s Day

Submitted Photo This is the zoo’s newest baby – a male bison born April 27. The zoo opens for the season on Saturday and this year will celebrate Mother’s Day from Sunday through May 15.

Due to social distancing, distributing the crowd and to celebrate Mother’s Day, Roosevelt Park Zoo in Minot will observe Mother’s Day this Sunday to May 15 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

The zoo opened for its official summer season on Saturday. The zoo has a new baby – a male bison born April 27 to Ole and Laila.

In observance of Mother’s Day, moms will get in free with the purchase of a child’s admission even if the child is an adult or the child is 2 and under and admission is free.

“We’ll offer the same discount for Mom all six days so you may choose a day that could be less of a rush,” zoo officials said.

The zoo will do a running head count on Sunday. The facility can comfortably host 700 people in its 20-plus acres but those who are not comfortable being around that many people just yet can pick another day to visit.
