Sustainable Minot project launches for 2020

The Minot Environmental Policy Group is launching the Sustainable Minot 2020 Scorecard to provide families and individuals with easy-to-implement steps to help save money, consume fewer resources, have a positive impact on the environment and make Minot a cleaner and healthier place to call home.

The online scorecard can be found at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/9THKGPV.

The scorecard covers six environmental impact areas, including waste, energy, water, transportation, landscape/building design and diet. Participants who score over 60 points on actions they currently do (or plan to do in the coming year) will earn a digital Sustainable Minot 2020 logo designed by Greg Vettel. All actions have been updated to reflect current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This is a project that brings our community together, moves it forward, and prepares it for a strong and bright future” said Minot Environmental Policy Group member Monica Peterson. Last year was the first year the Sustainable Minot Scorecard was run, and more than 120 individuals and households participated. The group hopes for more than 200 participants in 2020.

The Minot Environmental Policy Group is a six-person offshoot of the online community Environmentally Minded People of Minot.
