Minot Memorial Day program canceled
Lansford to hold cemetery service
No Memorial Day program will be held in Minot this year.
Loren Headrick, commander of the Minot Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 753, said the program will not be held due to the COVID-19 pandemic concerns.
The VFW was scheduled to be in charge of this year’s program. The VFW and Minot American Legion take turns planning the program.
Headrick said flags will be placed on the graves of veterans on the Saturday prior to Memorial Day. This year’s Memorial Day is observed on May 25.
Those placing the flags will include the VFW, American Legion Post 26, Disabled American Veterans and Boy Scouts.
Minot’s Memorial Day program usually is held at the original Veterans Section in Rosehill Memorial Park.
The Lansford American Legion Kenneth L. Renz Post 279 announced it will conduct its annual Memorial Day service on May 25 at 11 a.m., but due to COVID-19, the shortened service will be held at the Lansford Cemetery, weather permitting. The Backroads Cafe in Lansford will be open.
