Katherine Bauer sentenced to three years for tampering with public records at Minot landfill

Katherine Marie Bauer, 39, Minot, was sentenced on Monday to three years in prison, all suspended but the one day she already served in jail, and three years supervised probation for Class C felony tampering with public records at the Minot City Landfill.

Court records show that the state agreed to dismiss a Class B felony theft charge against Bauer but North Central District Court Judge Richard Hagar ordered to pay $30,290.68 in restitution as part of the court judgment on the other charge. She was also ordered to pay $525 in court costs.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Bauer, who was a part-time city landfill employee, had been accused of stealing from the landfill since June 2018. Inconsistencies with the city’s landfill records were discovered when the city conducted an internal audit. Security footage for the landfill showed Bauer voiding transaction slips where customers had paid in cash and then pocketing that amount of cash as her own.

Starting at $2.99/week.
