Joel Anderson, Minot, sentenced to time served, probation, for fracturing woman’s nose

Joel Nathan Anderson, 40, Minot, was sentenced to 360 days in jail on April 16, all suspended but the 39 days he has already served in jail, and two years of supervised probation for bashing a woman’s head into a refrigerator, then pushing her down on the floor and punching her in the face and fracturing her nose during an argument on Sept. 2, 2019, at a southeast Minot residence.

Anderson entered an Alford plea to the Class C felony domestic violence causing serious bodily injury charge. That means he maintains his innocence but recognizes he could be found guilty if the case went to trial.

Court records show that Judge Richard Hagar also ordered Anderson to have no contact with the victim and to complete a domestic violence offenders course. He was also ordered to pay $1,100 in court costs and restitution yet to be determined.

Anderson also received a concurrent sentence on a Class A misdemeanor charge of disobedience of a judicial order and was ordered to pay $325 in court costs for that charge.
