Three finalists for state board of higher ed. seat

Danita Bye, Bruce Gjovig and Taylor Olson are finalists for an open seat on the State Board of Higher Education, according to a press release from the state superintendent of public instruction.

Bye, from Stanley, is a business advisor to small- and medium-sized businesses in science, technology, engineering, medical devices and manufacturing.

Olson is the Williston city attorney, a tribal court judge at Fort Berthold, and a municipal court judge for New Town.

Gjovig is the retired founder and CEO of the Center for Innovation at UND.

Gov. Doug Burgum will interview the finalists and choose one to fill the open slot, which runs through June 30, 2022.

Dan Traynor resigned from the board in January and is now a federal judge.
