District 38 Republicans endorse incumbents

District 38 Republicans recently endorsed incumbents David Hogue for North Dakota State Senate, and Dan Ruby and Larry Bellew for North Dakota State House of Representatives.

“We’ve got a strong ticket of proven leaders to offer to District 38 voters,” said District Chairman Jared Hendrix. “David, Larry and Dan each bring something unique to the table. They are conservative Republicans committed to our party’s platform and protecting our rights to life, liberty and property. Our Republican principles are focused on constitutional obligations like infrastructure and education, while also protecting our God-given rights and freedoms from excessive taxation and regulation.”

At the district meeting, Hogue, who is seeking his fourth term in the Senate, said if re-elected, he will continue to advocate Republican core values of limited government, protection of life and the protection of personal liberty.

“I realize this legislative seat isn’t my seat,” said Ruby, who is seeking his 11th term. “It belongs to District 38, and the voters have given me the honor to occupy it for the last 10 sessions. I take that responsibility seriously and serve to represent the people that put me there.

“I will continue to work toward more efficient government and less intrusion and regulations on North Dakota citizens and businesses. This next session we need to find the best way to use funds that are building up in state government in a way that benefits the people of this state. If the state is taking in too much, it should reduce what it is taking. We can do that and still continue to fund water projects, education, infrastructure and flood projects,” he said.

Also seeking his 11th term, Bellew said he hopes to return to the House to raise the funding for K-12 education. A second priority would be to maintain sound infrastructure in a rural state where roads and water are a major need and concern.

“After these needs are met, it is a concern and a need to expeditiously pursue tax reform and keep our state government’s spending under control. As a representative I will be conscious of the young families and the elderly in their concern for affordability in paying taxes in our state. This state is wealthy, and I work hard to bring the people what they are due in returning their assets and working to use their money wisely,” he said.

District 38 includes portions of northwest and south Minot as well as the communities of Burlington and Des Lacs and townships south and west of Minot. Legislative seats will be filled in the Nov. 3 election.
