Williston dentist steps off cancer network national board of directors

WILLISTON – Dr. John Hamilton, a dentist from Williston, is capping off nearly a decade of service on the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) National Board of Directors.

During his nine-year tenure as a director, chair and immediate past chair of the board, Hamilton provided leadership and guidance for ACS CAN, the nonpartisan advocacy affiliate of the American Cancer Society (ACS) that supports evidence-based policy and legislative solutions designed to eliminate cancer as a major health problem. The network is based in Washington, D.C.

“We are immensely grateful for Dr. Hamilton’s years of service to our cancer mission,” said Lisa Lacasse, president of ACS CAN. “During his tenure as both a director and chair of the board, he provided invaluable leadership as ACS CAN worked to reduce the cancer burden through public policy change. We will miss his expert guidance and his unrelenting dedication to helping cancer patients and their families.”

Hamilton has remained active with ACS and ACS CAN in North Dakota, where he and his wife, Marian, have supported and attended events across the state to help advance the mission of the organizations. The Hamiltons made it a priority to attend ACS CAN’s national Leadership Summit and Lobby Day every year and regularly attended meetings on Capitol Hill speaking on behalf of North Dakotans and sharing their cancer stories. In addition to his time on the ACS CAN Board, Dr. Hamilton also served on the ACS, Inc. Board of Directors for six years.
