Rashad Akerman, Minot, charged with assaulting, having sex with teenage girls

Rashad Paul Akerman, 28, Minot, is accused of having sex with a 17-year-old girl and of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl on Oct. 13, 2018.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed with the court, the two girls agreed to meet Akerman for a sexual encounter in a room at the Super 8 motel on Oct. 13, 2018 and they started drinking with him. Akerman allegedly raped the 16-year-old. He forced her to have sex with him after she told him to stop. He then had sex with the 17-year-old girl, who initially agreed but tried to physically pull away toward the end of the encounter. The 17-year-old told police she did not verbally protest to Akerman. Neither girl was old enough to consent to sex with an adult under North Dakota law. Akerman was 27 at the time of the encounter and, according to the affidavit, Akerman was aware that the two girls were underage.

Akerman is charged with Class C felony sexual assault and Class C felony corruption of a minor in district court in Minot.

He was scheduled to make an initial appearance on Wednesday before Judge Stacy Louser.
