Area middle school students competed in the Ward County Mathcounts competition last week. Students who qualified to compete at the state mathcounts competition include: Jim Hill Middle School students Atrus Rutherford, Madison Lyman, Mason Eichhorn, and Bolu Omole; Memorial Middle School students Luke Balas, Jennaya Coucoules, Wayne Roberts, and Kyle Kreutzbende and Kobe Irmen and Lucky Patel, both of Erik Ramstad Middle School; and Kylie Stein, Des Lacs-Burlington.

The state competition will be held March 9 at the Ramkota Hotel in Bismarck.
