Snowmobile youth safety class in Minot

The North Dakota Parks and Recreation Department is holding a Youth Safety Course at Minot’s Maysa Arena on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 1 p.m.

“We want snowmobiling in North Dakota to be enjoyable, where generations can connect through a shared experience. Part of ensuring that fun on the 2,800 miles of groomed trails in North Dakota is understanding the need for safety when operating snowmobiles, and that is what we focus on with this course,” said Anton Hillig, motorized recreation coordinator.

Snowmobilers ages 10 and older must possess a Snowmobile Safety Certification or a driver’s license to legally operate on public land, including ditches and state snowmobile trails.

Pre-register by calling 328-5366 or email ahillig@nd.gov. A $20 registration fee is charged to attend the safety course, which can be paid in cash or check at the class. Additional classes will be held throughout North Dakota this winter.
