David Warner, Sawyer, sentenced to time served, probation, for interference with a 911 call

David Lee Warner, 34, Sawyer, was sentenced on Friday to 360 days in jail, with all suspended but the 14 days he already served in the Ward County Jail, and two years of supervised probation for taking a phone and breaking it when a child tried to make a 911 call during an altercation on March 27, 2019.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Warner came home drunk and yelling. A woman tried to call her mother and Warner took the phone away from her and broke it. The woman yelled at a child to call the police and Warner went to the bedroom, took the phone from the child and also broke that. Warner had also been accused of brandishing a knife and running after the group when the woman and three children were leaving the residence early that morning. The woman called police from a gas station.

Warner pleaded guilty to a Class C felony for interference with a 911 call. A Class C felony terrorizing charge against Warner was dismissed under the terms of a plea deal.

Judge Richard L. Hagar also ordered Warner to complete a domestic violence offenders course and to have no contact with the victim. If he successfully completes probation, the charge will be reduced on his record to a Class A misdemeanor.
