Scott Lampert charged with aggravated assault

Scott Francis Lampert, 59, is accused of assaulting another man and fracturing his nose at a residence in Makoti on July 31.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, the alleged victim was helping Lampert’s brother to carry in some groceries. The alleged victim saw a cat inside the truck and picked it up and “gently” tossed it to the ground and then went back to getting groceries out of the truck. Then Lampert allegedly hit the alleged victim in the back of the head and, when the alleged victim turned around, punched him in the ribs and the nose. Scott Lampert told the alleged victim he had struck him for being mean to his cat.

The alleged victim then left the area and drove himself to a clinic in Minot, where he was diagnosed with a closed fracture of the nasal bone.

Lampert was scheduled to make an initial appearance on the Class C felony aggravated assault charge in district court in Minot on Monday before Judge Gary Lee.
