Scouts finish tortoise exhibit project

Submitted Photo Ryker Pederson, a Life Scout with Troop 433, completed the second phase of a project at the tortoise exhibit at Roosevelt Park Zoo.

Ryker Pederson, 15, Life Scout from Troop 433, completed phase two of a tortoise exhibit project at Minot’s Roosevelt Park Zoo this past weekend. Last November his brother, Reece Pederson, 17, an Eagle Scout also from Troop 433, built the building to house the tortoises in the new exhibit.

Phase two was to complete the pen for the tortoises. Building materials for both projects were made possible through donations from the community to Roosevelt Park Zoo Crew.

The tortoise exhibit will open in spring 2020. The enclosure was built large enough to provide plenty of grass for the tortoises.
