Timothy Foster, Butte, Mont., sentenced to 20 months for reckless endangerment, theft, fleeing police

Timothy Milton Foster, 41, of Butte, Mont., was sentenced last week in district court in Mountrail County to 40 months in prison, with 20 months suspended, and two years of supervised probation for Class B felony possession of a stolen vehicle, Class C felony reckless endangerment and Class C felony fleeing from police.

According to court documents, Foster stole a 2018 Ford Escape in Minot and drove it to Stanley on Aug. 14. In Stanley, he fled from police at a high rate of speed within the city limits and endangered pedestrians, other drivers, and law enforcement. At one point, Foster deliberately struck a Stanley officer’s squad car and damaged it. Foster continued to flee at speeds approaching up to 111 mph on U.S. Highway 2. Multiple law enforcement agencies joined in the chase. Spikes were deployed, but did not stop his vehicle. Foster eventually stopped when he ran out of gas and was arrested.

Foster was already on probation for breaking into a motor vehicle in Ward County.

Court records show that Judge Todd Cresap also ordered Foster to pay $750 in court costs. Restitution in the case is reserved for 90 days. He received the same sentence on all three felony charges. The sentences are concurrent.
