Traffic lanes change on Minot US 83 NW Bypass on Sunday

Traffic will switch over to new southbound lanes on Minot’s U.S. 83 Northwest Bypass project from 19th Avenue NW south to 4th Avenue NW on Sunday afternoon, according to the North Dakota Department of Transportation. Traffic speeds will be reduced.

On Monday evening, 4th Avenue NW will be closed under the U.S. 83 Bypass bridges between 7-9:30 p.m., so beams can be set over the center span of the bypass bridge. The U.S. 83 Bypass will remain open, but traffic will not be able to go under the bypass. Westbound on 4th Avenue will need to travel north onto the bypass, Eastbound on 4th Avenue will need to travel south onto the bypass. Those coming off the bypass will not be able to go under the bridges.

During construction speeds will be reduced, traffic will be head to head through the project and flaggers will be present. Trucks will be moving in and out of the area with flaggers briefly stopping traffic.

Upon completion of the U.S. 83 Bypass project, there will be four lanes of travel from U.S. 52 and 2 to Highway 83 on the west side of Minot. The project is expected to be completed this fall.
