Students get new playground equipment

Submitted Photo The Des Lacs-Burlington Elementary School in Burlington received a $20,000 grant from the Let’s Play initiative by Keurig Dr Pepper and national non-profit KaBOOOM! to install new playground equipment. About 65 volunteers assisted in installing the equipment last week. The school was one of five organizations chosen nationwide after submitting an application along with a two-minute video that showed the need for the new playground equipment. The 400 elementary students were welcomed back to school with a new large play structure, a tire swing, eight regular swings along with a zipline Zipkrooz. The rest of the funds for the playground were raised through fundraising, smaller grants and donations from individuals as well as local businesses.
