Pipeline break causes produced water spill
EPPING -The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality (NDDEQ) has been notified of a produced water spill resulting from a pipeline break near Epping. The pipeline is operated by Polar Midstream, LLC.
Produced water is a byproduct of oil and gas development.
The spill occurred about 3 miles southwest of Epping on July 18, and it was reported the same day. Initial estimates indicate about 300 barrels of produced water were released, impacting pastureland near a well pad. An undetermined amount flowed onto and was contained on the well pad.
Inspectors from the North Dakota Oil and Gas Division and NDDEQ have visited the site. NDDEQ personnel will continue to monitor the investigation and remediation.
