Joseph Thompson III to go to trial on burglary, terrorizing, reckless endangerment charges

Joseph Thompson III, 27, Minot, said Tuesday he wants to go to trial on burglary, terrorizing, and multiple reckless endangerment charges.

Thompson had been scheduled to change his pleas to the charges on Tuesday morning but decided against it.

Thompson is accused of breaking into a garage in the 10th block of 16th Avenue SW on March 18 and firing several shots into an occupied residence. Thompson reportedly believed that one of the occupants of the home had burglarized his own residence while Thompson was out of town and had stolen his car.

Thompson is charged with Class B felony burglary while in possession of a firearm, one count of Class C felony terrorizing, and five counts of Class C felony reckless endangerment.

No trial date has yet been set.
