Sustainable Minot logo released, participation goals raised

The Minot Environmental Policy Group has released the logo for the Sustainable Minot program and revised its participation goals amid higher than anticipated interest.

“This was a new project and concept for Minot residents, so we set what we felt was a comfortable and achievable goal of 50 responses.” said group member Shannon Krueger. “After we cruised past 50, we realized that people in our community were eager to learn and move forward on these issues.”

The group’s new goal is 100 responses. The group has also begun distributing the logo for this project.

According to Policy Group member Monica Peterson: “The idea is that community members can show others that while they are not perfect, they are setting goals and working to create a stronger, healthier, more fiscally and environmentally responsible future for Minot.”

The logo was designed by local graphic artist Greg Vettel and represents a simplified view of the city limits, waterways, roadways, and neighborhoods of Minot. The logo is distributed electronically to participants who score over 60 points on the Sustainable Minot Scorecard. Recipients can use the logo in whatever format is most applicable.

The Sustainable Minot Scorecard can be found online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DJLX752. Paper versions are available in the lobby of the Minot Public Library. Participants score their current and future actions in areas relating to electricity, water, transportation, food, landscape/home design and material waste. The goal is to help the community of Minot save money, conserve resources, assist municipal operations and prepare for market/industry trends.
