Temps higher than average in April

The month of April had temperatures higher and moisture lower than the long-term averages.

“This past month of April, we had an average temperature of 41 degrees which was 0.4 degrees above the 112-year long-term average of 40.6 degrees,” said Joe Effertz, who records the daily weather data at the North Central Research Extension Center, south of Minot.

Effertz said the lowest temperature of the month was 17 degrees on April 3 and the highest temperature was 75 degrees on April 19.

The total moisture for the month was 0.94 inches which is 0.52 inches below the long-term average of 1.46 inches, according to Effertz.

He said there was 3 inches of snowfall for the month which is 0.8 inches below the long-term average of 3.8. “All the snow we had for the month came on the 28th-29th,” he said.

The forecast for the rest of the week calls for mostly sunny weather with daytime temperatures in the 50s and 60s.
