Brine released at well site near Ambrose

AMBROSE – A valve/piping connection leak caused the release of 21,672 gallons of brine at a well site near Ambrose on Tuesday.

Brine, or produced water, is a byproduct of oil and gas production and consists of water from geologic formation, injection water, oil and salts.

The release occurred at the Petro-Hunt, L.L.C. Hauge 13-21 H well, about four miles southwest of Ambrose in Divide County.

Goodnight Midstream reported the incident to the North Dakota Oil and Gas Division on Wednesday. At the time of reporting 13,440 gallons of brine had been recovered. The product was contained on-site, and cleanup is under way. A state inspector has been to the location and will monitor additional cleanup, the Oil and Gas Division reported.
