Springtime is all the buzz around Roosevelt Park Zoo in Minot and the time to get ready for the season.

Nearly 9,000 volunteer hours were logged for the zoo in 2018.

Zoo Bee Volunteer Fair

A Zoo Bee Volunteer Fair will be held Wednesday, March 20, from 3-6:30 p.m. in the zoo Visitor’s Center. The “Zoo Bee” volunteer team is made up of a faithful-few who are matched and well-trained in their area of interest. Sometimes that means hands-on interaction with the animals, sometimes that means chopping lettuce on Tuesdays at 11 a.m., sometimes that means greeting zoo guests with an animal fact on a summer day. Those interested can stop by the Zoo Bee Volunteer Fair and find an area they would like to be matched in and can ask questions.

Zoo Teen Program

The Zoo teen Program will hold orientation on May 15 at 6 p.m., and training day on May 28 at 10 a.m. Zoo Teen program is available for those 13 and up and teens can spend the summer in a fun atmosphere doing team building activities and practicing public speaking. Volunteer Weekends

Volunteer weekends have been set for March 23-24, March 30-31, April 6-7 and April 13-14. On the cold weekends volunteers will be painting and later volunteers will be raking. There’s a lot of trees, area and obstacles at the zoo so volunteer help is greatly appreciated.
