Billie Whiting, Minot, sentenced for terrorizing

Billie Sue Whiting, 27, Minot, was sentenced Thursday to 360 days, all suspended but the five days she already served in jail, and 18 months supervised probation for chasing her husband with a knife during a domestic altercation on Jan. 18. The man ran into a bedroom and closed the door behind him. Whiting tried to kick the door in and stabbed the closed door with the knife while her mother-in-law, who was also in the bedroom, was calling 911, according to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court. Whiting told police that she and her husband had been arguing and she “snapped,” grabbed the knife and chased her husband into the bedroom after he had pushed her.

Court records show that Judge Gary Lee also ordered Whiting to complete an anger management course and to pay $1,100 in court costs.

If she successfully completes probation, the Class C felony terrorizing charge will be reduced to a Class A misdemeanor.
