Derek Anderson, Lansford, charged with intent to deliver meth

Derek Charles Anderson, 33, Lansford, was charged on Sunday with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine following a traffic stop in New Town.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, the officer stopped the vehicle heading west on N.D. Highway 23 because it had a headlight out. Anderson appeared to be nervous and was shaking. The officer ordered Anderson out of the vehicle. Anderson told the officer he had a firearm on him. The officer secured the firearm. An officer deployed a police dog to search the vehicle. The dog alerted and a further search turned up a lock box under the driver’s seat which contained 68.3 grams of suspected methamphetamine. The search also turned up a black plastic box containing a meth bong and a plastic baggie containing 3.9 grams of suspected meth. The officer searched Anderson and turned up a plastic baggie in his jeans that contained another 3 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

Anderson is charged with Class B felony possession of meth with intent to deliver and Class A misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was scheduled to make an initial appearance in district court in Stanley before Judge Gary Lee on Monday.
