Applicants sought for Shively nursing scholarship

Calling all students in the Rugby area who are preparing to pursue a nursing career. A scholarship opportunity has opened up. The Carol Shively Memorial Scholarship is searching for students to apply. The $500 annual scholarship is administered by the Good Samaritan Health Services Foundation in Rugby. Applications are due Feb. 1.

A former nursing assistant at Heart of America Medical Center, Carol Shively, was studying to becoming a nurse when her life was tragically cut short. Endowed through contributions from family and friends, the Carol Shively Memorial Scholarship was established to assist individuals pursuing nursing degrees.

Preference is given to applicants who have been accepted into a nursing program and who have been employed or plan to be employed by the Good Samaritan Hospital Association. This includes Heart of America Medical Center, Care Center, Hospice and Johnson Clinics, and Haaland Estates basic care and assisted living in Rugby.
