Souris Valley United Way is seeing a decrease in donations while the needs of the community continue to grow, according to United Way officials. The decrease in annual giving will have a significant impact on the funding available to 24 local nonprofit programs which rely on support from the United Way. Contributions to Souris Valley United Way stay in the Minot community.

“Everyone needs a place to turn when faced with tough times, and United Way is at the core of our community’s most important programs to help people in need,” said Rued. “United Way strives to be a stable source of income for local programs so the non-profits can focus on people and services.”

Dolly Parton Imagination Library program provides 2,509 children between the ages of 0-5 a monthly gift of reading. A donation of $25 will support one child for a year.

Ivy Geinert, Violet Geinert, Graham Portillo and Aubrey Portillo celebrated for Souris Valley United Way.

Minot Backpack Buddies program provides 220 children in need, weekend supplemental nutrition during the school year. Currently, 1,000 children could receive this support. The program needs donations to grow. A gift of $360 gives a child in need six meals and three snacks each week during the school year.

Executive Director Rich Berg urged the community “to Live United and make a donation today and to help us reach Minot’s need of $675,000 by the end of the campaign, Jan. 31, 2019.”
