Robbery suspect remains at-large

The man identified as committing a robbery in the city remained at-large late Tuesday as new details of the crime have emerged.

According to an affidavit filed in North Central District Court in Minot, Quantdre Mersier, 25, Minot, was identified as the perpetrator of a robbery that occurred near the Wells Fargo bank located at 100 S. Broadway about 9:13 a.m. Monday. A warrant has been issued for his arrest. Police describe Mersier as being 5’11” tall and weighing 165 pounds.

Police allege Mersier approached a woman in the east parking lot of the Wells Fargo bank and demanded the blue deposit bags she was carrying into the bank. When the woman refused, Mersier grabbed the bags from her and fled on foot to the north. Police say the deposit bags contained cash in excess of $7,000.

The victim told police she recognized the man as a regular customer at the Super Pumper on North Broadway. The stolen deposit bags contained money from that business.

A witness to the robbery followed the suspect vehicle to the 900 block of Fourth Street SW, immediately north of the Scandinavian Heritage Park. The witness was able to use a mobile phone to take a photograph of a man fleeing from the back seat of the vehicle, a grey Ford Fusion with a tag indicating it was purchased by Mersier.

Police discovered the vehicle abandoned a short distance away in the 800 block of Third Street SW. Police have not said if they have identified the driver.

Mersier has one previous violation listed in North Central District Court, a minor offense for speeding, clocked at going 55 miles per hour in a 40 mph zone issued on Sept. 15 of this year. He was fined $15. The fine had not been paid as of Monday.
