A jury in Stanley acquitted Deondre Garfield Peart, 21, of New Town, this week of a Class B felony charge of promoting a sexual performance by a minor.

Peart went to trial on the charge in North Central District Court on Oct. 22 and the jury returned its verdict of not guilty on Oct. 23.

According to court documents, Peart had consensual sex with a girl in September 2016, when she was 16 and he was 18, a week shy of turning 19. He had been accused of filming himself having sex with the girl and of sending the video to friends.

The state had earlier dismissed a Class A misdemeanor charge of corruption of a minor against Peart.
