Michelle Jewett, Sawyer, charged with stealing vehicle

Michelle Lee Jewett, 35, Sawyer, is charged with stealing a car from the Sawyer Bar on Thursday, refusing to stop when ordered to do so by law enforcement, then fleeing at speeds up to 90 mph toward Minot. According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, she traveled north on Valley Street in Minot until police were able to spike the vehicle’s tires. She pulled into the CHS Elevator on Valley Street by some railroad tracks and sat in the vehicle. She refused to follow commands. She then put the car into reverse and intentionally crashed into a patrol vehicle, forcing officers to move out of the way. She eventually stopped, got out of the vehicle and fled on foot. She was caught and arrested.

The vehicle was valued at $2,649. A search of the vehicle turned up a baggie filled with methamphetamine.

Jewett is charged with theft of property, a Class C felony, reckless endangerment, a Class C felony, a fourth offense of driving under the influence within 15 years, a Class C felony, possession of methamphetamine, a Class C felony, fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, a Class A misdemeanor; and refusal to halt, a Class B misdemeanor.

She made an initial appearance in district court in Minot on Friday before Judge Stacy Louser.
