Souris Valley United Way presents more than $302,000 in grant awards

Souris Valley United Way in Minot awarded 20 local area programs with grant awards from the 2017 campaign totaling $302,564. Each program directly addresses the areas of education, financial stability and Health.

Grant recipients were recognized at a ceremony at the SVUW office on Wednesday.

“I am pleased that SVUW has continued the tradition of supporting the many wonderful agencies in our region,” said Monica Peterson, Board president. “They make a difference each and every day by helping so many people. Our Community Building Committee ensures that grant dollars will make a great impact on the communities we serve.”

“The message heard during the grant interviews was the increased demand for services due to the economic downturn.” said Rich Berg, executive director. “It will be important for us to share that message within our area during the upcoming campaign!”

Program applications were accepted in the following areas and awarded:

® Enter School Ready to Succees: $56,950

® Productive & Engaged Youth: $10,000

® Healthy Behaviors: $22,083

® Healthy Nutrition for All: $109,040

® Mental & Emotional Wellness: $33,000

® Emergency Assistance: $23,991

® Promote Stable Living Environment: $47,500

Grand Total: $302,564
