Area students intern for Hoeven

Two area students are among five interns for Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D.

Joseph Mathews, Williston, is in his second year at Williston State College. He plans to major in political science and wants to pursue a law degree.

Cassandra Poitra is a senior at the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks and will graduate in May with degrees in criminal justice and sociology. She grew up in Belcourt and Aberdeen, S.D., and is an enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa. She plans to attend law school.

Mathews is interning in Hoeven’s Washington D.C. office and Poitra interning in his Grand Forks office.

Hoeven’s internship program provides college students and recent graduates with the opportunity to work with the senator and his staff on legislative, communications and administrative projects.

Hoeven offers internship opportunities in his Washington, D.C. and state offices. North Dakota students interested in applying for the program should submit an application online. The deadline for applications for summer internships, which run from June through August, is March 15. Questions can be directed to (202) 224-2551.
