Minot Police officer Jared Foley receives the “Law Officer of the Year” award from Candace Brekke, Minot Optimist Club president. The club honors an area law enforcement officer each year during their Respect for Law Luncheon. “We think it’s really important to our community to honor those law enforcement officers that keep our community safe every day,” said Brekke. Among other police department duties, Foley has been active in a Boy Scout Explorers program that introduces youth to the field of law enforcement. “It was surprising,” said Foley after receiving the award. “It’s nice to be recognized but I don’t go to work expecting to get any kind of recognition or award for it. I go to work because I like what I do and I have fun with what I do. Still, it’s very nice to be recognized.”
