WILLISTON – Oasis Petroleum reported 13,500 gallons of saltwater was released and contained after a valve froze and broke at the Carriere Federal oil and gas well about seven miles southeast of Williston, Thursday.

The saltwater was contained within onsite diking.

North Dakota Oil and Gas Division officials said a state inspector was scheduled to visit the site Thursday to monitor the clean-up.
