Minot man faces theft charges

Garrad

A 24-year-old Minot man is accused of stealing an iPhone 6 and an iPad Mini from a home he had been staying at in November and then selling the stolen iPhone at Game Stop in Minot.

William Thomas Garrad is charged with a Class C felony in the case. According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Garrad had a friend sell the iPhone for him at GameStop because Garrad had previously been caught selling stolen property at GameStop and didn’t think the store would let him sell items there anymore. His friend had no idea the iPhone was stolen.

Garrad is also separately charged with being in possession of a purse that was stolen during a home burglary on Dec. 12. According to a probable cause affidavit, Garrad is accused of participating in the burglary with Zachary Fredricksen. Fredricksen told police that he was at Garrad’s apartment early on the morning of the 12th when Garrad asked him for a ride “to go and try to make some extra cash by stealing people’s stuff.” Fredricksen allegedly acted as the lookout for Garrad during the burglary.

Garrad is charged with burglary, a Class B felony, and possession of stolen property, a Class C felony, in that case. Fredricksen is charged with burglary, a Class B felony, theft of property, a Class C felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class B misdemeanor, in that case.

Both men are on probation for other offenses.
