2016 Minot Rubber Duck River Race helps local non-profits

Minot’s second annual Rubber Duck River Race was held Monday. It was a collaborative fundraiser, supporting Companions for Children, Indpendence Inc., Dakota Hope Clinic, Minot Park District Foundation and Minot Public Schools Foundation.

The event took place during the Fourth of July Festival in Roosevelt Park. The expectation of the event is to engage the community to make a larger impact.

Companions for Children has been a part of the Minot community since 1972. They provide screened adult mentors to youth ages 6 -18, who live within a 15 mile radius.

Dakota Hope Clinic provides information about questions related to pregnancy and sexual health free of charge.

Independence Inc. is a resource center for independent living. They are a private, nonprofit corporation that provides services to maximize the independence of individuals with disabilities.

The Minot Park District Foundation mission is to provide a broad-based opportunity for the citizens of Minot and its visitors to enhance their quality of life through its parks and recreational facilities. Additionally, they increase public awareness of the benefits available from the Minot Park District, and to promote professionalism in the delivery of these services. Also, to increase the understanding of the contribution made by parks to the economy and the economic development of the region.

Minot Public School Foundation has a mission to preserve, promote, and enhance the quality of education of the Minot Public School District. One way they help is through our Foundation Enrichment Grants to our MPS staff in our district for funding for special projects, field trips, or other materials that would otherwise not be available in the district’s budget.
