Brine spill occurs at well pad just north of Dickinson

DICKINSON The North Dakota Department of Health reported Thursday that it was notified of a pipline leak at a well pad owned by C12 Energy near N.D. Highway 22, just north of Dickinson.

About 148 barrels of brine flowed off the well pad and through a ditch onto newly annexed land on the north side of Dickinson.

“The brine has not reached the Dickinson storm water system,” a news

release said.

C12 Energy reported that two barrels of oil also were released.

The brine spill impacted the road ditch and adjacent property. According to the news release, a Health Department inspector has taken samples from the area for testing and the department is working with C12 Energy on a clean-up plan. The Southwest District Health Unit and the Stark County emergency manager also are working with the Health Department to make sure the site is properly handled with as little impact to the environment as possible, according to the report.
