Cashwise connects with Minoters

A brand new grocery store opened its doors in Minot Wednesday, and there was a line-up of early rising customers eager to begin shopping.

“When I opened the doors at 6 o’clock there were people waiting in line to get in here,” said Cashwise Foods Assistant Manager Kip Kalvick late Wednesday afternoon. “We’ve heard nothing but good comments. Everybody loves it. It’s a lot of fun.”

Numerous displays greeted customers outside the doors of Cashwise on Wednesday, including a plentiful spread of pumpkins. From all appearances the parking lot was nearly full. Inside the store shoppers were checking out the new facility and filling carts with groceries.

“So far the store has been received very well. We’re excited to be part of the community,” said Rick Parker, district manager, St. Cloud, Minn., while watching numerous shoppers move through the aisles at Cashwise. “Our job is to work hard each and every day to take care of our customers.”

Cashwise Foods presents a “modified warehouse” format to grocery marketing. The growing chain has its own warehouse which, says Parker, “allows us to buy direct and pass the savings on to our customers.”

Customers were taking advantage of a number of opening day specials. Many seemed pleased with the new store and new items. All of the checkstands remained busy throughout the day.

“We are very pleased with the turnout,” said Tim Cegla, manager. “We expect more of the same through the weekend.”

Cashwise Foods recently opened a store in Watford City. Other new locations include Williston, Tioga and Stanley. Additional stores are planned for other locations in the state.
