Feeling festive with the Festival of Trees

Submitted photo The Dakota Hope Clinic had a display up at the Pride of Dakota Holiday Show in Minot earlier this month for their Festival of Trees event. The Festival of Trees will be taking place Saturday at the North Dakota State Fair Center.

Looking for Christmas decor ideas or hoping to score an already decorated tree? The Dakota Hope Clinic’s Festival of Trees is returning for the sixth year Saturday at the North Dakota State Fair Center.

A family-friendly Festival of Trees viewing time will be available from 10 a.m.-2. p.m. Raffles will be given away during this time and a woodland themed tree will be given away during this time. There will be a photo booth at the event for families that would like to take photos.

They will then close from 2-5 p.m. to set up for the auction and dinner. The evening auction will open at 5 p.m. and tickets will be available at the door for $15. Food will begin to be served at 5:30 p.m. and the live auction will start at 6:30 p.m.

“It’s way more work than you expect but it’s amazing to see how many people want to support Dakota Hope Clinic,”said Amanda Olson, coordinator of the event. “It’s a very beneficial clinic to the community and it’s rewarding to see how many people want to help out.”

The Festival of Trees is an annual fundraiser for Dakota Hope Clinic and a way to spur some Christmas cheer. Different decorated trees will be auctioned off as well as some festive gift packages.

Tree raffle tickets will be available for $20 apiece. Raffle tickets for different gift baskets will be available at 5 for $20. New this year is mobile bidding, where people will be able to place bids on their phones for the silent auction items and purchase raffle tickets.

“We hope that will be a huge help for our checkout process,” Olson explained. “Checkout has been a little bit of a problem area in the past.”

The event will also offer two specialty cocktails at the evening event – Jingle Juice, a cranberry Moscow mule, and Grinch’s Warm Heart, a hot chocolate with whipped cream and creme de menthe.
